How to apply for scholarship for West Bengal students?

West Bengal state government has been giving merit based scholarships to students for a long time. The students of West Bengal have welcomed this step of the government. Because of poor economic conditions, many talented students cannot continue their studies after passing higher secondary. Moreover, this step of the state government is for the purpose of enabling the poor and talented students from the backward classes in the society to continue their studies. So all those brilliant students of Bengal whose families are not financially rich, but have a strong desire to study, can apply for this scholarship grant to recognize their talent and continue their studies.

Students after passing 12th class or higher secondary or studying in any semester of college are eligible to apply for these scholarships of West Bengal State Government. The state government provides this scholarship for undergraduate students.

As a result, many students from common and lower class families are getting an opportunity to develop their talent. The state government is giving these scholarships to the students in several categories.

Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) Scheme.

The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) scheme is one of the education scholarship schemes provided by West Bengal State Government. It is purely merit based scholarship scheme. You must score more than 60% marks in 12th class / HS to qualify for this scholarship scheme.

*Applicant must be resident of West Bengal to apply for SVMCM scholarship scheme.
*Student's family income is maximum Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum, beyond which can not apply for this merit based scholarship scheme.
*Student must score more than 60% marks in Class 12/HS.
*Amount of scholarship Rs. 12000-60000/- per year.

The scheme benefits students studying in regular mode of Class XI and XII, and at under Graduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical and Technical / Professional courses. Post Graduate level students pursuing Science/ Arts/ Commerce & Technical/ Management. These scholarships will be sanctioned to deserving students on merit-cum-means criteria.

* Students should pass in the year 2022 with at least (a)60% marks in aggregate in the last qualifying examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education / West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level or Under Graduate level Scholarship (b) 60% marks in aggregate in diploma course from Institutes approved by AICTE and affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD for Under Graduate level Scholarship (in 2nd year Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy courses through Lateral Entry) or affiliated by State Medical Faculty for Under Graduate level Scholarship (in 2nd year Pharmacy course through Lateral Entry) (c) 53% marks in aggregate in Graduation (Honours Subject) from any State University for Post Graduate Level Scholarship (General Education) /55% marks in Graduate Courses from any State University or AICTE approved Institute of West Bengal for Post Graduate Level Scholarship (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy).

* Students pursuing M.Phil. courses and Doctoral courses (NON-NET JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW and NET-LECTURERSHIP) from State-aided Institutions will come under the purview of this Scholarship Scheme.

* Girls Students pursuing Post Graduate courses in Science, Arts and Commerce stream from Universities of this State after obtaining Under Graduate Degree with 45% marks in aggregate from Institutions of this State will come under the aegis of this Scholarship Scheme as Kanyashree (K3) applicants.

* The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.

* There will be no need to submit hard copy of the application.

* Candidates opting for these scholarships and found eligible, will not be allowed to enjoy any other governmental (central/state) scholarship or stipend for the same course/stage of study. However, one time grants or assistances received from any source, or free or partly-free studentship allowed by the host institutions will not debar the students from availing of the benefits of this scheme. West Bengal Post-Matric Scholarship (OASIS) scheme.

West Bengal State Government Post Matric Scholarship Scheme popularly known as "OASIS" Scholarship. This scholarship is for meritorious students belonging to backward classes like ST/ST/OBC category. Students must pass HS or Class 12 with 50% marks to qualify for this scholarship.

* Students must be resident of West Bengal state.
* Annual household income of your family should not exceed INR 2 lakhs.
* Class XII/HS pass with minimum 50% marks.
*Stipend Amount: Rs.5000-14000 per year.
*Students must have 50% marks to qualify for this scholarship.
*Family Income Amount: 5000-14000 per year.

Online application for scholarship has been started on 10.05.2022 for 2022-23 Session.

As per new guidelines by Govt of India, 40% of total eligible amount will be disbursed for the first Phase. The Remaining 60% of the total eligible amount will be disbursed in due course. (For Pre Matric and Post Matric SC Students)

Scientist Girl Merit Scholarship', (BKMBS) Scheme.

Science Girl Merit Scholarship is awarded to girls who want to study higher after their 12th standard should be basic science to girls studying in West Bengal background. It was awarded by Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), Kolkata.

*Girls should be studying, resident of West Bengal.
*Should be studying Engineering/Medical or any basic science subject.
*Allocation Amount: Rs.24000.00 per year and with get Rs.2000.00 extra for buying books every year.

West Bengal Free-Ship Scholarship (WBFS) Scheme.

"WBFS" is for Graduate students in Engineering & Technology/Pharmacy/Architecture Department in Government/Private Institutions of the State. The waiver is limited to tuition fees for all institutions concerned. All fees other than tuition fees are to be borne by the beneficiary.

*Student must be resident of West Bengal.
*Must study Engineering and Technology/Pharmacy/Architecture.
*Student's family income is maximum Tk 2 lakh per annum, if it is more than that, this merit based education scholarship scheme cannot be applied for.
*Candidates selected under Tuition Free Waiver (TFW).
*Not getting any scholarship like SVMCM.
*Allotment Amount: The amount you have paid as your total course tuition fee, will be considered as your Scholarship.

Nabanna Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister 'Nabanna' Scholarship is for students who have secured 60% marks in the last board examination. This scholarship is funded by West Bengal Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Minimum Eligibility for Scholarship –

* You must be resident of West Bengal.
* Obtained at least 60% marks but not more than 75%.
* Annual household income of your family should not exceed INR 2 lakhs.
* Allotment amount: One time Rs.10000.
* Application – to be done offline.
